- Guaranteed Tier I fire resistance, Tier III health, Tier III armor
- Two guaranteed Tier I dual resistances. One always includes poison + another element, and the other includes physical + another element.
- This is possibly their most ambitious paladin yet. You can potentially get 44-60% resistance on 5 different elements while getting important armor and health buffs, all from skills alone. We’ll see if it translates to results in this meta.
- Astaroth does not buff any troops, hence his D rating in troop composition. Astaroth gets an improvement to his power level rating due to the sheer effectiveness of his buffs.
- Astaroth has 25% base armor, compared to the typical 40% base armor classic paladins have.
Patch 1.26 Astaroth was rated Tier C for the reasons below.
- Astaroth suffers from a base armor of 25%, making him slightly weaker than other classic paladins, which have a base armor of 40%.
-
Astaroth is a classic 4* paladin, but loses his first defensive skill to a Goliath Aura X ability. Given that Goliaths are not effective in the current meta, this actually makes him a much weaker paladin, since he now can only roll 3 elemental resistance skills.
-
Nonetheless, should you roll 3 different elemental resistances, you should still be able to make a strong Astaroth, with only one elemental weakness.

- One Titan Aura X (117% health, 88% armor, 180% ice damage or 88% armor piercing), two Tier II offensive skills and two Tier III offensive skills.
- Pros:
- Auria runs faster and hits in a wider radius than any other infiltrator, making her great for souls grinding or land raiding.
- Her Titan Aura X ability gives her some much needed base stats.
- Cons:
- Auria cannot defend anything in the mid or late game.
- Even with increased stats, she still dies easily to high-damage compositions if she is not played perfectly.

Guaranteed Panther Tier I damage and Tier I health as the first two skills.

Rangers in Dawn of Titans are the best attackers in the game. However, when it comes to defense, classic rangers (with Tier I, II and III offensive skills and Tier I and Tier II defensive skills), usually make average-to-subpar defenders relative to the Tier A compositions.
-
Because Basathi‘s first two skills are locked, she is only able to roll for an elemental resist a single time, giving her panthers less survivability on average than Ladega, and thus cementing her status as a great attacker but not a great defender (compared to the Tier A options).
- As with the other poison rangers, Basathi has access to tons of damage-boosting relics that also buff Panthers.

Calvarax usually arrives in an event with all of his 4* relics (Skeleton Ring, Blood Vial, Ancestral Heart). These relics will allow Calvarax to summon up to 9 Skeleton camps every battle (12 camps if you also use the 3* versions).
-
The combination of relic and Calvarax Skeleton buffs will allow you to summon a surprisingly tanky and high-damage skeleton army right on top of enemy ranged troops.
-
EDIT: This bug seems to be fixed in Patch 1.26, but requires further testing to confirm.
-
After the release of Storm Maidens, there seems to be a bug that allows Storm Maidens to kill Skeletons in 2-3 shots, no matter the buffs or the level differential. (Ex. In my tests, L11 Storm Maidens can easily defeat L19 Skeletons even after relic/Calvarax buffs.) For this reason, Calvarax is not viable at all against storm maiden compositions, but is strong against most others.
-
Calvarax‘s offense is so strong against so many compositions that he was close to Tier A. However, his defense is abysmal, so I have no choice but to classify him as Tier B. The Dawn of Titans AI does not know how to use Calvarax‘s spells effectively.

- Tier II Goliath defensive buff, as well as guaranteed Aura X Goliath health and armor buffs.
- Two Aura X buffs for Militia – either +360% damage, +176% armor piercing, +234% health or 176% armor.
- Grulgar has decent skill consistency with his guaranteed defensive Aura X skills for his Goliath. Unfortunately, Goliaths are not strong enough by themselves to carry an army, and do not synergize well with Militias. The strongest Aura X buffs for Militias are the defensive buffs, but even in this best case, Grulgar’s composition will have no heavy damage dealers. In the worst case, your Militias will be glass cannons that struggle to get close to enemies due to how squishy they are.
- Grulgar‘s power level rating is B due to the strength of his buffs, but gets a B- in troop composition. He also offers relic support mostly for Goliaths.

“Champdarg” Variant Notes:
- Champdarg, or the Champion-skills Jaldarg variant, with his Tier I, II and III titan defensive skills and Tier I and II offensive skills, does his job as a ranger very well. He dishes out more damage than any other ranger and can take a few hits (depending on his skill roll of course).
- That being said, Champdarg is best used only on offense as a garrison-cracker for low earth-resistance bases, given that earth resistance is not a priority in the 1.28 meta.
- He is susceptible to poor skill rolls. (Pity the poor soul who lands Tier I and Tier II armor piercing.)
- Champdarg is a staunchly Tier B titan, but a fun one to play.

The developers have massively buffed Korthan, after they realized just how desperately paladins need a lift.
- Korthan has a base armor of 25%, which is lower than the 40% classic paladins have. However, he has a higher health pool than any other paladin: 193,169 HP at level 60, which is 59,025 higher than any other level-60 paladin. This is equivalent to having something like an extra 40% health buff. This 40% extra health stacks multiplicatively with skill and relic buffs.
-
Guaranteed Dual Resistance skill with Physical, and a second Dual Resistance skill with Fire
-
Guaranteed titan Tier III health and armor, and a first skill that buffs the damage and health of titan and troops by 20%
-
Korthan is much better than his previous iteration, but still is not perfect. Even with the addition of a health buff to his measly first skill, he will be slightly tankier than he was before, but will still require a great deal of relic support to get 200% armor and close to 90% resistance to five out of six elements.
-
Relics to build on Korthan will probably look like the following: Fire Ruby, Iron Guard, Septic Belt, Ice Cuirass, Dragon Helm (of the appropriate element missing from skills), Storm Shield.

- Guaranteed first skill buffing titan health and damage by 30%, as well as providing 3 Freeze spells.
- One Tier II titan defensive skill, one Tier II titan offensive and Tier III titan offensive skill.
- One Aura X titan skill providing the following buffs: 117% titan health, 180% titan ice damage, 88% titan armor piercing, or 88% titan armor.
-
Krampus is the first “Titan Aura X” champion, but the implementation of his Aura X skill leaves something to be desired. Defensively, other than the small 30% boost to health from his first skill, Krampus only has one other guaranteed defensive skill. Champions are already short-handed when it comes to having enough defensive buffs, and Krampus, even in his best case scenario, only brings to the table a single 72% resistance skill, and either +147% health or +30% health and +88% armor, neither of which gives him a hope of surviving against an army of well-buffed Aura X troops when defending.
- Offensively, a skilled player can make use of Krampus‘ Freeze spells to delay the enemy army (though even 3 extra Freeze spells are not enough to save Krampus from many compositions). A Krampus with an Aura X titan damage buff (+180% damage) can put out an infiltrator’s level of damage while sporting a bit of the champion’s tankiness, but survivability remains a troublesome issue. Krampus is therefore considered a low Tier B titan.

- Lu Bu is a decent champion, as far as classic champions go. He offers a unique first skill that provides him with 40% health and armor, as well as 3 lightning spells.
- He gets one Tier II defensive skill, one Tier II offensive skill, one Tier III defensive skill and one Aura X skill.
- Pros
- With three, possibly four, defensive skills, Lu Bu can turn out to be a lot tankier than a regular champion, at least in terms of health and armor. However, he has access to only one elemental resistance skill, making him more of a niche choice against certain compositions.
- Cons
- The Tier II defensive skill can be low-rolled to result in health, armor or resist vs. titan, which is painfully redundant given how much health and armor he already has in his skill set (first skill, Tier III, Aura X).
- The Aura X can be low-rolled to grant armor piercing. If Lu Bu does not roll Aura X damage, he will do far less damage than a classic champion otherwise would. No lightning-damage equivalent to the titan-buffing Avalanche, Giant Axe, Great Plague, Mountain Fist or Volcano Vane exists.

- Matarus suffers from a base armor of 25%, making him slightly weaker than classic paladins, which have a base armor of 40%.
-
Paladins in Dawn of Titans have a difficult time rolling a good skill set, and require a lot of powerful relics to make work.
-
Matarus has an advantage over the standard paladin (ranked at Tier C) due to the dual-resistance ability offered as the 2nd skill. In this case, being able to roll poison + another elemental resistance in a single skill makes Matarus have slightly more consistent skills than other paladins. Even with this consideration, Matarus‘ single Imperial X skill is not enough to make him a viable troop-buffing titan, and his other skills still require a great deal of luck to roll four different elements.
-
With a lucky roll though and proper itemization (i.e. Storm Rune), Matarus can excel as a defensive paladin, with 90% resistance to every element and a great deal of health/armor.

The only reason Mayku is classified as Tier B is due to the consistency of her skill rolls. She always receives both Spearmen defensive X skills and both Panther defensive X skills, so you know exactly what you are going to get.
-
In terms of unit composition though, Spearmen and Panthers do not go well together. Both units suffer from crowding effects: only one or two Spearmen camps, or two or three Panthers can deal damage at a time – the rest just stand around waiting their turn. The health and armor boosts are fine against unbuffed troops, but will never stand up to end-game defense or castle raiding. 150% bonus health and 102% armor don’t do much when buffed troops can get 100%+ armor piercing and 100-200% damage buffs.

Goliaths are not viable in the current meta due to the prevalence of rangers and storm maidens, cumbersome handling and lack of defenses. Skolnar can help even the odds a bit with his skills, but at the end of the day, there are only a few skill sets that truly shine:
-
100% Resistance vs. Titan: Achievable only 2.78% of the time by getting the Tier II and Tier III Resist vs. Titan skills in the 3rd and 5th slots.
-
100% Resistance vs. Melee: Achievable only 0.2% of the time by getting the Tier I, II and III Resist vs. Melee skills in the 1st, 3rd and 5th slots.
-
Spectrum Elemental Resists: Hard to get a good spread of resistances, and requires a lot of relic support. This composition can still get kited due to Goliath’s slow movement speed – something that does not affect Mitano‘s panthers.
