Introduction and Notes

This site will no longer be updated because my personal life has taken over and I am no longer playing Dawn of Titans consistently. I will leave the site up for readers who want to see the old methodology for rating titans.

The goal here is to keep an up-to-date commentary on all 4* titans in Dawn of Titans.

A few notes:

  • These tier ratings reflect relative power for end-game play, considering both offensive and defensive capabilities for each titan.
  • Ratings are reviewed by a group of experienced and dedicated players.
  • 4* Titans are the only titans included in this list for now. Maybe 3* Titans will be added later for exceptional titans. Ideally, this site will help F2P players better understand which events to dump their tokens into.
  • Titans that have a higher likelihood of rolling good skills are going to be placed on higher tiers. Titans that are usually not usable in the meta but have an insane skill composition 5% of the time will be considered worse than titans that have strong and consistent skill rolls.
  • Because I would need to pay out-of-pocket to include search functionality, you will need to search for your titan by name, race or class using Ctrl-F. Most of the titan identifiable features are included in this list. Or you can go to the individual pages by race/class in the headers above.

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S S S A

elithen_guard_SR01

  • Guaranteed Grenadier X damage and armor piercing skills
  • Guaranteed Imperial X armor and health mean that your Grenadiers will dish out plenty of damage, while your Imperials are tanky enough to buy time.
  • Overall a very strong castle defender that cannot be low-rolled.
  • Patch 1.28 notes: Now that Imperials have their 80% base armor, Avalos has gotten a very strong buff to his composition. His Imperials will have 117% bonus health and 168% armor before relics, providing him the flexibility to have a hard-hitting melee defense and a reliable ranged offense across two different elements.

race_human  class_champion Dionysus | Human Champion (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

Greek_Gods_Dionysus

  • Dionysus‘ first skill gives all human troops 50% damage (Militia, Archers, Spearmen). His third and fifth skills give Archers 225% damage (similar to an Aura X) and 44% critical (similar to a Tier III critical skill), guaranteed.
  • Dionysus can summon 5 Ω Militia, which have 50% troop count (which equates to 50% bonus health and damage) as well as 5X charge damage.
  • He also provides 2 Aura X skills for Militia.
  • Dionysus‘ composition is somewhat akin to a spearless Siegfried‘s – Archers serve as the DPS source and Militias the tanking unit. The extra 50% damage on top of the Aura X-like damage boost will make your Archers hurt. On top of that, as a physical titan, Dionysus gets all of the relic support he needs for his entire army.
  • His skill consistency is not too bad. You have a 83.3% chance to roll either the Militia 234% health buff or the 176% armor buff, and an 16.7% chance to roll both health and armor.
  • All in all, Dionysus is a strong, well-rounded titan with some of the best Archers in the game.

race_human  class_champion Hades | Human Champion (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

Greek_Gods_Hades

  • Guaranteed Panther X damage and armor piercing
  • Guaranteed Grenadier 180% damage (essentially an Aura X damage skill) and Grenadier 44% critical (not only to Ω Grenadiers as it was before)
  • Can summon Ω Grenadiers. Ω Grenadiers have 20% more range, move 50% faster and contain 50% more units, but have 60% less health. Hades is low Tier S. He has consistency in 5 guaranteed skills, as well as great relic support for Grenadiers. However, his Panthers, while highly damaging, will be glass cannons. Besides Hades himself, there is no unit in this composition that can tank and stall the enemy for the Grenadiers to do good damage.

race_unak class_berserker Halzir | Unak Berserker

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

unak_bezerker_SR02.png

  • Guaranteed Grenadier Tier I and II damage skills, Tier I and II armor piercing skills, and Tier III critical make Halzir‘s Grenadiers quite powerful.
  • Halzir‘s Grenadiers can easily reach 100% critical without too many relics, for some insane damage.
  • Halzir gets a C+ for his troop composition due to his single-troop skill set.

race_human  class_berserker  Hel | Human Berserker (Norse God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S+ S A S

Norse_God_Hel

  • One guaranteed skill granting 50% damage boost to lightning and physical damage for titan and troops.
  • Guaranteed Storm Maiden Aura X damage and X armor piercing, as well as two Militia Aura X skills.
  • Hel‘s skills are insane. She is the strongest Storm Maiden-buffing titan in the game, given that she is a lightning titan with access to the full array of Storm Maiden relics, and supplies the best Aura X buffs combined with an additional 50% damage boost to both Maidens and Militia from her first skill. Militia Aura X buffs supply a greater multiplier than most Aura X buffs – providing you either 360% damage, 176% armor piercing, 234% health or 176% armor.
  • With 83.3% chance to roll at least one powerful defensive buff on Militia, you can dish out a great deal of damage through your Storm Maidens, and will have a composition with tons of speed and synergy.

race_ragnar  class_paladin   Kronos | Ragnar Paladin

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S- B+ S A+

greek_gods_kronos

  • Guaranteed unique first skill that gives 35% titan resistance to all elements. Kronos can summon 5 Ω Goliaths: each Ω Goliath squad has 80% bonus health and 30% bonus speed and will contain 4 Goliaths within.
  • Provides two Aura-X-level defensive buffs for Goliaths and two Aura X offensive buffs for Archers.
  • Pros:
    • Ω Goliaths are pretty powerful, especially with the 4-man squadron mechanic and the additional base stats. They can also be spawned anywhere like Poseidon‘s Ω Imperials, which means they can get right into the enemy’s ranged back-line. Each of the Ω Goliaths in the squad does the full damage of a regular Goliath, which results in some unexpected damage numbers.
    • Kronos arrives with an array of Goliath-buffing relics. Goliaths now have access to relics that can bestow Poison, Lightning, Fire and Physical resistances, as well as health and armor. Combined with the recent base 50% base health buff to Goliaths, they can turn out to be surprisingly hard to kill. Kronos is also the first paladin to make great use of the 5* Divinetouch relic, better than Matarus, Delphira, Tansa or pre-update Astaroth.
  • Cons:
    • Goliaths make poor defenders for ranged units, since they have neither the troop width of spearmen nor the speed of imperials. The summoning mechanic should help with this though – allowing the Ω Goliaths to close the gap immediately.
    • Both Goliaths and Ω Goliaths are weak against Imperials due to their slow attack speed.
    • Archers are currently the weakest ranged units in the game. The Aura X skills will give them some bite, but they will not carry the composition alone.

race_unak class_berserker Malkor | Unak Berserker

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S A S S

unak_bezerker_SR01

  • Guaranteed Imperial and Grenadier X skills for damage and armor piercing make this titan both consistent and powerful.
  • Malkor‘s composition will be stronger than Crothos‘ due to better relic support for Grenadiers on fire titans. Grenadiers can reach close to 100% critical without a single critical skill from Malkor, given the right relics.

race_unak class_berserker Mamesh | Unak Berserker

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S A+ A+ S

unak_bezerker_R01

  • Having three Grenadier X skills means that you have only a 25% chance of not rolling the very important Grenadier X Damage skill.
  • Panther X skills are less important in the Storm Maiden meta, but still useful when combined with hyper-buffed ranged support.
  • Mamesh benefits from great relic support for grenadiers, like Malkor, making her one of the strongest grenadier titans in the game.

race_elithen  class_champion  Poseidon | Elithen Champion (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S- S- A- A

maxresdefault_live

  • Three guaranteed skills on the 1st, 3rd and 5th slots. The first skill allows him to summon 1 Ω Imperial and grants him a 20% titan damage buff. The third skill summons 2 Ω Imperials and gives only Ω Imperials 88% armor. The five skill summons 2 Ω Imperials and gives all Imperials 40% health.
  • Two offensive Tier III skills for Storm Maidens. This means you can roll two of these options: 90% damage, 22% critical, 44% armor piercing or 58% damage against titans. Of these four skills, damage and critical are the most useful. Armor piercing is usually redundant with relics, and damage against titans is situational.
  • Poseidon is a low Tier S titan. Now that Imperials have been buffed with 80% base armor, Poseidon’s tanky Ω Imperials can be pretty terrifying to deal with when they are spawn on top of your ranged units. His skills have some consistency – you will always roll the same Imperial skills, and your Storm Maiden skills will at least offer some utility even in the worst case (damage vs. titans + armor piercing). There are only a handful of good Storm Maiden relics Poseidon can use, but they mainly considered a support unit in this army. The Imperials steal the show.
  • After the summoning AI was improved, and Imperials were buffed, Poseidon has  risen up to the occasion as a strong offensive and defensive option.

race_human  class_champion Siegfried | Human Champion

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S- S B S+

Champion_SR02

  • Two Archer X skills, one Militia X skill and two Spearmen X skills mean a well-rounded human army.
  • I was on the fence about Siegfried.
    • On the one hand, he has a 50% chance of low-rolling Archers, which decreases his power level dramatically. This should have made him Tier A.
    • On the other hand, he is one of only three Physical Damage titans that offer Archer X buffs (Dionysus, Siegfried, Tolland). This means that he has access to the four Archer-buffing relics out there that only Physical titans can use: Iron Mace, Giant Axe (Archer version), Nature’s Call, and Banner of Iron. He also pulls double-duty with the Titan & Army Physical Damage buffs from relics like Bow of Kings and Mask of the Dragon. I believe this level of relic support for his skills pushes his rating up to Tier S.

race_human  class_ranger  Tolland | Human Ranger

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S- S S- S+

Human_Ranger_SR01

  • Guaranteed Archer X damage and armor piercing skills
  • 2 Tier II Spearmen buffs and a defensive Spearmen X skill for a strong melee wall to support
  • Tolland, as a Physical Damage titan, has access to far more Archer damage relics than any other Archer buffing titan (i.e. v1.2 Skallgrim, Odin, Theros, Wukong).
  • Power level rating gets an S- due to the reduced efficacy of Archers. Nonetheless, Tolland is still a great pick both offensively and defensively.

race_unak  class_ranger  Yalluth | Unak Ranger

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S A- A+ S

unak_ranger_female_sr01

  • Yalluth has a similar skill selection to Urdred: Guaranteed Aura X damage and armor piercing for Grenadiers, and one Aura X defensive skill and two Tier II elemental resistance skills for Goliaths (unlike Urdred‘s Tier II skills, melee resistance, health and armor cannot be rolled on these skills).
  • Like Urdred, Yalluth‘s optimal skills for the Goliaths are Aura X health (50% chance) and two of the following resistances (Lightning, Poison, Fire and Ice out of six possible elements).
  • Pros:
    • Yalluth has much better relic support for her Grenadiers than Urdred. Flame Arc, Flamberge, Banner of Flame and the troop-buffing Volcano Vane give her Grenadiers insane amounts of damage without compromising her own damage.
    • Yalluth is a ranger. She can safely dish out DPS alongside her Grenadiers, and benefit greatly from the Titan Fire Damage buffs on her relics, more than Malkor or Mamesh. Rangers with properly supported Aura X skills are a little ridiculous to fight against.
  • Cons:
    • Goliaths make poor tanks for Grenadiers, since they are slow and do not have the width of a battalion troop like Militia, Imperials and especially Spearmen. Panthers can run right past them.
    • Yalluth brings only one elemental threat to the table. With enough armor and fire resistance on tanking melee units, she can be countered. Both Yalluth and her Grenadiers can also be countered by skillful Skeleton placement in a good composition.

Tier A

[Strong defense and offense, can take on multiple types of compositions on average, skill rolls have a substantial chance of low-rolling]

race_human  class_berserker Almarand | Human Berserker

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A- A A- B

Bezerker_VIP01

  • 1st, 3rd and 5th skills are identical to Calvarax‘s Skeleton-buffing skills – Tier I, II and III Skeleton defensive and offensive buffs
  • 2nd and 4th skills are identical to Hades‘ 3rd and 5th skills – 180% Grenadier damage and critical
  • Almarand is a bit of a mixed bag, but somewhat average at the end of the day.
  • Pros:
    • Offensively, Almarand can be a very cost-efficient titan to battle – he brings his own melee and ranged troops (assuming you have the appropriate skeleton relics) and can summon them anywhere on the map. You will lose little troops, and can take out Grenadier- and Archer-based defenses with good positioning.
    • 180% damage and 44% critical is a very strong troop buff for Grenadiers.
    • Almarand has unique attack animations.
  • Cons:
    • Almarand is an ice titan, of all things, so he is denied a lot of synergy with his Grenadiers, given that he cannot equip Flame Arc, Flamberge, Banner of Flame, or the 4* Grenadier-buffing Volcano Vane. His Grenadiers will end up having a poor armor-piercing stat as a result, which reduces their damage significantly.
    • His Skeleton skills are susceptible to RNG. Each skill rolls a defensive buff 40% of the time (armor / health) and an offensive buff 60% of the time (damage / armor piercing / critical). Given that each skill rolls independently of the others, your chance of getting a fully defensive skill stack is 6.4%.
    • Almarand is a Charge-less berserker – meaning that he is even less useful in combat than Siegfried. One of the things that made Calvarax work as a skeleton-buffing titan was his ranger class. Even though most of the skeleton relics do nothing to boost his damage, he still dished out enough DPS against enemy troops to provide some space to throw down all of your skeleton spells, sniping down incoming Panthers and Imperials. Almarand unfortunately will likely die in the first minute of combat, since he is an unbuffed melee combatant.
    • Building Almarand is a very tough choice. To obtain 9 skeleton spells to leverage his Skeleton skills, you must take up 3 of his six relic slots, leaving you only three slots to play with. (Or you can forego Skeletons altogether and build him like a subpar Hades.) Should you apply defensive Skeleton relics like the Cursed Mask or a second Skeleton Ring (3-star), you will be missing a lot of Grenadier damage. Should you apply offensive Grenadier relics like the Doomfire and Flame Volley, you will have skeletons that fall easily to high-damage enemies. There is little room to add omega-Grenadier relics from the Hades event.
    • Though the summoning AI has been improved in the last patch, Raise Dead spells still cast slowly and inefficiently. Almarand will be weak on defense since he does not have any built-in defensive troops, just a mass of moderately-buffed Grenadiers and late-arriving Skeletons.
  • In conclusion, Almarand will likely be a fun and flashy titan to play offensively, but brings little to the table defensively.

race_human  class_ranger  Artemis | Human Ranger (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A B- A- S

maxresdefault

  • Guaranteed first, third and fifth skills that allow Artemis to summon three Ω Panthers anywhere on the battlefield. First skill gives all Panthers 40% damage, third skill gives all Panthers 88% armor piercing, and fifth skill gives all Panthers 44% critical.
  • Tier II defensive skill and one X skill for Panthers
  • Ω Panthers have 25% critical and 30% speed buffs, but -40% damage.
  • Tons of strong panther-buffing relics are available for poison titans. Artemis also has access to a number of decent Ω Panther relics as well.
  • Pros:
    • Artemis has been greatly improved compared to her initial version. All of her skills now buff all Panthers.
    • Summoning skills are strong offensive disruption tools that give you a tactical advantage against ranged troops.
    • A Tier II defensive skill for Panthers gives you a chance to roll a Resist vs. Fire, Lightning or Physical.
    • The Panther defensive X skills are both somewhat useful – rolling only health or armor. Health is better in this case due to the high armor-piercing of most compositions.
  • Cons:
    • Artemis grants her Panthers slightly less damage than other Mossmane rangers, but she compensates for this by giving her panthers an Aura-X level armor piercing buff and an Aura X defensive buff.
    • Panthers, as melee units, are very susceptible to high ranged-damage compositions. Her single defensive Tier II and X skill are not enough to make up for this weakness. Her Tier II defensive skill can also be low-rolled with armor, health or resist vs. titans.

race_human  class_berserker Arvan | Human Berserker (Viking)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A A- B S

dnqmpikxcaaz0bt-e1538772349748.jpg

  • Two X skills for Goliaths and two X skills for Storm Maidens = 50% to miss Storm Maiden X damage skill
  • As a lightning titan, Arvan has good relic support for his Storm Maiden abilities – Midas Touch, Reinforced Grip, Serrated Edge and Banner of the Storm. However, the 50% chance to roll subpar Storm Maiden abilities and the weakness of Goliaths in this meta keep Arvan on the low end of Tier A.

race_human  class_guardian  Athena | Human Guardian (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A- S A+ S

Greek_Gods_Athena

  • Guaranteed unique first, third and fifth skills that provide an array of powerful buffs to Storm Maidens and that allow you to summon three Ω Storm Maidens anywhere on the battlefield. Note: The first skill gives 20% titan armor, the third skill buffs only Ω Storm Maidens 88% armor piercing, and the fifth skill buffs all Storm Maidens 50% damage.
  • Ω Storm Maidens have 30% damage and 20% speed buffs, but 20% less range.
  • Two Spearmen X skills = a 83.3% chance of rolling at least one defensive buff. With the right Spearmen X skills, your Storm Maidens can get the breathing room to dish out a whole lot of pain.
  • As a lightning titan, Athena has access to all of the Storm Maiden relics, giving both her regular and Ω Maidens the damage they need.
  • Athena is now considered a low Tier A titan after troop relic buffs were fixed and Storm Maidens’ damage dropped.
Best Usage Vulnerabilities
– Garrison and Land Defense
– Anti-Panther and Anti-Goliath Tech
– Low-Attrition Grinding
– High-Damage Archer / Grenadier Comps
– Lightning-Resistant Armies

race_human  class_berserker Cerberus | Human Berserker (Greek God)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A S A S

Greek_Gods_Cerberus

  • Three summoning skills that help bring 5 Ω Archers to battle, as well as providing 40% troop damage and 40% troop health.
  • One Tier II defensive skill for Spearmen (can roll health, armor and resist against titans, not just elemental resistance skills, so buyer beware), and one defensive Aura X skill for Spearmen.
  • Ω Archers have -60% health, but +40% speed, +25% critical and +50% armor piercing compared to regular Archers.
  • Pros
    • Easy to obtain 100% critical on those Ω Archers. They have decent DPS and can be summoned anywhere. While on offense, Ω Archers, like Ω Grenadiers, have the advantage of being “held in the hand,” so to speak, until Ω melee units (i.e. Goliaths, Panthers, Imperials, Militia) have been already dropped onto the field, allowing for a little more resilience against the disruptiveness of melee troop summoners.
    • So many relics exist for Archers that are available to physical titans. You will have no shortage of relic builds you can mix and match to suit your needs.
    • Cerberus can be micro’ed as a distraction by a good Berserker player against slow melee compositions (Goliaths, Imperials, Spearmen).
    • Spearmen make a good meatshield for ranged troops.
  • Cons
    • The Spearmen buffs are underwhelming. The Tier II skill can be low-rolled by getting armor, health or resist vs. titans, rather than the necessary elemental defense. A single Tier II and a single Aura X is not impressive given how much damage exists in this meta.
    • Cerberus’ composition only offers a single elemental damage type – physical. Thus, he is easy to itemize against with some foresight and a handful of common relics.
    • Ranged Ω troops are not as effective on defense as melee Ω troops.

race_human  class_berserker Grimvald | Human Berserker (Viking)

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

VIKING_HEROVERC

  • Two X skills for Imperials and two X skills for Storm Maidens
  • With the new Imperial buffs, Grimvald‘s troop composition score improves to A, as Imperials become slightly more viable defensive units.
  • See notes on Arvan for Tier A rationale. Grimvald has the same strengths and weaknesses, but swaps out Goliath abilities for Imperial ones.

race_unak  class_infiltrator  Ilzar | Unak Infiltrator

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
S- A- B S

unak_infiltrator_R01

  • Two X skills for Grenadiers, two X skills for Goliath and one X skill for Spearmen
  • Ilzar gets strong relic support for Grenadiers, but has a 50% of low-rolling the Aura X damage skill.
  • The Goliath and Spearmen X skills can be hard to leverage due to poor relic support. Goliaths have a hard time blocking melee threats from your Grenadiers due to their slow speed and their small unit-width, and a single Spearmen Aura X might not make enough impact without sacrificing important Grenadier relic slots.

race_elithen  class_berserker  Jötunn | Elithen Berserker

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A- B+ S A

Ragnar_bezerker_VIP01

  • Jötunn has been updated recently. His first skill now provides an 20% earth and ice resistance buff to himself and the whole army. He has guaranteed Imperial X offensive skills and Goliath X defensive skills.
  • Jötunn has been modernized for the meta with his new skillset, but still proves to be an average Tier A titan. While his Imperials will be quite the damage dealers, they really do best with a solid defensive buff. Imperials are easily kited and thus need to be sufficiently tanky enough to close the distance.
  • At the end of the day, Jötunn has more consistency but is slightly worse off than he was before in terms of power level.

Patch 1.20 Version

  • One of the first Aura X titans to be designed, Jötunn has two unique skills called “Jötunn‘s Rage” that are essentially Imperial Aura X buffs, two Goliath X skills and one Panther X skill.
  • When Jötunn first came out in Winter 2017, he was one of the best offensive titans in the game. As more Aura X titans come out, however, he has fallen to being somewhat average among the Tier A group. A lack of a ranged DPS buff in his kit means he will have a difficult time dealing with ranger armies that have good kiting.

race_mossmane  class_ranger  Ladega | Mossmane Ranger

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

Mossmane_ranger_SR01

  • Ladega wins a Tier A spot due to how powerful buffed Panthers are, as well as how important resistances are to the cats. Ladega has the upper hand over Basathi because one of Basathi‘s two defensive skills are locked into Panther health, when the true best rolls are Resistance to Lightning, Fire or Physical.

  • Troop composition gets an A- rating due to his all-ranged unit buffs, and the weaker Storm Maiden buffs.
  • Odin has the relic support for Storm Maidens, and some relic support for Archers (especially for players who have access to the older Lightning relics that buffed human troops).

Mossmane_bezerker_R02

  • Two X skills for Panthers, two X skills for Archers
  • A Safira that does not low-roll on her Archer X skills is a very powerful titan. With strong Archer damage to follow up a hard-hitting, moderately durable Panther assault, Safira‘s armies will close in with surprising speed and a lot of DPS.
  • Given how many relics Safira can use that give Panthers damage, armor piercing and critical, the ideal high-roll is armor / health for Panthers and damage / armor piercing for Archers.

  • As an ice damage titan, Theros does not benefit from much Archer relic support, besides the four relics identified in the Wukong review below.

race_human  class_berserker Thorhild | Human Berserker

  • Better than classic berserker skills for Storm Maidens: one Tier I, two Tier II and two Tier III offensive skills for Storm Maidens.
  • What was once a throw-away titan that buffed Militia, Archers and Spearmen (like an offensive Volstan) is now a very powerful titan indeed. Given the right relics and no low-rolls on her skills (i.e. not triple Storm Maiden Armor Piercing), Thorhild can become the Storm Maiden version of Halzir, for a terrifying offense and defense.

  • See notes on Skolnar (Tier B) for the strengths and weaknesses of Ragnar Guardians
  • Urkon has one fewer Goliath skill, but instead has a very strong unique first skill that buffs his health and damage, and gives him 30% to all elemental resistances.
  • If you can give him a 4* Storm Rune (24% resist to all elements) and a 5* Dragonslayer (36% resist to all elements), you can turn him into a 90% resist-all paladin that also gives 4 defensive buffs to Goliaths. Given that he can also give his Goliaths 100% resist vs. titan or 100% resist vs. melee just like Skolnar, he is a much stronger guardian variant with the right relic support.

Norse_God_Valkyrie

  • Two Spearmen X skills and two Grenadier X skills = a 50% chance to low-roll Grenadiers, which will cost you most of the DPS from this titan. Since Valkyrie is not a fire titan, she does not get the relic support to make up for potentially losing her 180% Grenadier bonus damage.
  • Her unique first skill gives her bonus armor, damage and 20% resistance to all elements. Similar to Urkon, she can reach 80% resistance to all elements with Storm Rune and Dragonslayer, and be a paladin-like, troop-buffing terror on the battlefield.
  • Valkyrie would have gotten a B in her relic support rating, were it not for the relics available that would grant just her and Urkon incredible titan defense. She also gets some nice Spearmen relics available to lightning titans. Other than these boons, she does not have access to Spearmen relics restricted to physical damage titans, nor Grenadier relics restricted to fire titans.

Guardian_Female_SR01

  • Guaranteed Spearmen X Health and X Armor, as well as three different Tier II resistances
  • I really like her design. Valorn finds herself in Tier A for two reasons.
    • Her Spearmen buffs are hard to low-roll. Three different elemental resistances on top of guaranteed 110%+ health and armor make for very tanky Spearmen that can stand up to many types of armies. If these Spearmen can hit fire and poison resistances, they can be quite the force.
    • As a Physical titan, Valorn has access to all of the Archer relics that Siegfried and Tolland can use. Even without a single Archer skill buff, her Spearmen are strong enough on their own, so Valorn can stack a whole array of Archer buffing relics. Nature’s Call, Iron Mace, Mask of the Dragon, Bow of Kings, Banner of Iron, Axe of Aesir, Orb of Justice — you have options. Five of these buff Spearmen damage as well.
  • Strong skills, good consistency and lots of relic support make for a healthy Tier A rating. We finally have a good defensive human-troop alternative to Volstan.
  • Note: Valorn may be updated as Tier S in the future if players can find success building her Spearmen hyper-defensively. This theorycraft requires further testing.

  • Two X skills for Archers, two X skills for Goliaths
  • Wukong is middle of the pack for Tier A titans. Given that he deals earth damage, he misses many of the Archer relics. Still, if he lands an Archer X damage skill, he will be a solid defender.
  • Mask of the Dragon is a good pick-up from his event for the Titan & Army Physical Damage boost, to give your Archers some extra power. Bow of Kings, Gilded Arc, Orb of Life and Heartseeker (ignoring the Ranger damage boost) work with Wukong for extra Archer damage.

race_ragnar  class_ranger   Urdred | Ragnar Ranger

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
A A- A A

Ragnar_ranger_Female_SR01

  • Urdred has guaranteed Aura X damage and armor piercing for Grenadiers, and one Aura X defensive skill and two Tier II defensive skills for Goliaths.
  • Urdred‘s composition is a two-element threat. Her earth damage as a ranger and her Grenadiers’ fire damage make it much tougher for enemies to stack resistances against.
  • Though the guaranteed offensive Grenadier X skills are fantastic, she has limited relic support for her Grenadiers.
  • Her Goliaths will be above average, but given that Goliaths need to have an array of resistances to be effective (Lightning, Poison, Fire and Ice, for starters), players will struggle to find the right relics to make the Goliaths tanky enough without sacrificing Urdred‘s damage on other fronts.
  • Optimal skills for the Goliaths are Aura X health (50% chance) and two of the following resistances (13.3% chance to roll these resistances for both skills): Lightning, Poison, Fire and Ice. Physical resistances are plentiful from relics already.

Ragnar_paladin_VIP

  • Guaranteed Tier I fire resistance, Tier III health, Tier III armor
  • Two guaranteed Tier I dual resistances. One always includes poison + another element, and the other includes physical + another element.
  • This is possibly their most ambitious paladin yet. You can potentially get 44-60% resistance on 5 different elements while getting important armor and health buffs, all from skills alone. We’ll see if it translates to results in this meta.
  • Astaroth does not buff any troops, hence his D rating in troop composition. Astaroth gets an improvement to his power level rating due to the sheer effectiveness of his buffs.
  • Astaroth has 25% base armor, compared to the typical 40% base armor classic paladins have.

Patch 1.26 Astaroth was rated Tier C for the reasons below.

  • Astaroth suffers from a base armor of 25%, making him slightly weaker than other classic paladins, which have a base armor of 40%.
  • Astaroth is a classic 4* paladin, but loses his first defensive skill to a Goliath Aura X ability. Given that Goliaths are not effective in the current meta, this actually makes him a much weaker paladin, since he now can only roll 3 elemental resistance skills.
  • Nonetheless, should you roll 3 different elemental resistances, you should still be able to make a strong Astaroth, with only one elemental weakness.

  • One Titan Aura X (117% health, 88% armor, 180% ice damage or 88% armor piercing), two Tier II offensive skills and two Tier III offensive skills.
  • Pros:
    • Auria runs faster and hits in a wider radius than any other infiltrator, making her great for souls grinding or land raiding.
    • Her Titan Aura X ability gives her some much needed base stats.
  • Cons:
    • Auria cannot defend anything in the mid or late game.
    • Even with increased stats, she still dies easily to high-damage compositions if she is not played perfectly.

Mossmane_ranger_FE01

  • Guaranteed Panther Tier I damage and Tier I health as the first two skills.
  • Rangers in Dawn of Titans are the best attackers in the game. However, when it comes to defense, classic rangers (with Tier I, II and III offensive skills and Tier I and Tier II defensive skills), usually make average-to-subpar defenders relative to the Tier A compositions.
  • Because Basathi‘s first two skills are locked, she is only able to roll for an elemental resist a single time, giving her panthers less survivability on average than Ladega, and thus cementing her status as a great attacker but not a great defender (compared to the Tier A options).
  • As with the other poison rangers, Basathi has access to tons of damage-boosting relics that also buff Panthers.

race_elithen  class_ranger  Calvarax | Elithen Ranger

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

  • Calvarax usually arrives in an event with all of his 4* relics (Skeleton Ring, Blood Vial, Ancestral Heart). These relics will allow Calvarax to summon up to 9 Skeleton camps every battle (12 camps if you also use the 3* versions).
  • The combination of relic and Calvarax Skeleton buffs will allow you to summon a surprisingly tanky and high-damage skeleton army right on top of enemy ranged troops.
  • EDIT: This bug seems to be fixed in Patch 1.26, but requires further testing to confirm.
    • After the release of Storm Maidens, there seems to be a bug that allows Storm Maidens to kill Skeletons in 2-3 shots, no matter the buffs or the level differential. (Ex. In my tests, L11 Storm Maidens can easily defeat L19 Skeletons even after relic/Calvarax buffs.) For this reason, Calvarax is not viable at all against storm maiden compositions, but is strong against most others.
  • Calvarax‘s offense is so strong against so many compositions that he was close to Tier A. However, his defense is abysmal, so I have no choice but to classify him as Tier B. The Dawn of Titans AI does not know how to use Calvarax‘s spells effectively.

  • Tier II Goliath defensive buff, as well as guaranteed Aura X Goliath health and armor buffs.
  • Two Aura X buffs for Militia – either +360% damage, +176% armor piercing, +234% health or 176% armor.
  • Grulgar has decent skill consistency with his guaranteed defensive Aura X skills for his Goliath. Unfortunately, Goliaths are not strong enough by themselves to carry an army, and do not synergize well with Militias. The strongest Aura X buffs for Militias are the defensive buffs, but even in this best case, Grulgar’s composition will have no heavy damage dealers. In the worst case, your Militias will be glass cannons that struggle to get close to enemies due to how squishy they are.
  • Grulgar‘s power level rating is B due to the strength of his buffs, but gets a B- in troop composition. He also offers relic support mostly for Goliaths.

race_ragnar  class_ranger   Jaldarg | Ragnar Ranger

Ragnar_ranger_SR01.png

  • Jaldarg is a classic ranger who provides buffs to Goliaths.
  • See the notes on Etalus for the rationale behind the classic ranger’s Tier B rating.

“Champdarg” Variant Notes:

  • Champdarg, or the Champion-skills Jaldarg variant, with his Tier I, II and III titan defensive skills and Tier I and II offensive skills, does his job as a ranger very well. He dishes out more damage than any other ranger and can take a few hits (depending on his skill roll of course).
  • That being said, Champdarg is best used only on offense as a garrison-cracker for low earth-resistance bases, given that earth resistance is not a priority in the 1.28 meta.
  • He is susceptible to poor skill rolls. (Pity the poor soul who lands Tier I and Tier II armor piercing.)
  • Champdarg is a staunchly Tier B titan, but a fun one to play.

race_human  class_paladin   Korthan | Human Paladin

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
B D+ A C

PALADDIN_ShadowKing

  • The developers have massively buffed Korthan, after they realized just how desperately paladins need a lift.
  • Korthan has a base armor of 25%, which is lower than the 40% classic paladins have. However, he has a higher health pool than any other paladin: 193,169 HP at level 60, which is 59,025 higher than any other level-60 paladin. This is equivalent to having something like an extra 40% health buff. This 40% extra health stacks multiplicatively with skill and relic buffs.
  • Guaranteed Dual Resistance skill with Physical, and a second Dual Resistance skill with Fire
  • Guaranteed titan Tier III health and armor, and a first skill that buffs the damage and health of titan and troops by 20%
  • Korthan is much better than his previous iteration, but still is not perfect. Even with the addition of a health buff to his measly first skill, he will be slightly tankier than he was before, but will still require a great deal of relic support to get 200% armor and close to 90% resistance to five out of six elements.
  • Relics to build on Korthan will probably look like the following: Fire Ruby, Iron Guard, Septic Belt, Ice Cuirass, Dragon Helm (of the appropriate element missing from skills), Storm Shield.

Prior Version

  • Korthan suffers from a base armor of 25%, making him slightly weaker than other classic paladins, which have a base armor of 40%.
  • Korthan‘s problem is the same as Freya’s. His unique first skill gives him and human troops +20% base damage, but this boost is a drop in the bucket and definitely not worth giving up an elemental resistance for.

race_elithen  class_champion  Krampus | Elithen Champion

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
B D C B

ragnar_champ_vip_01

  • Guaranteed first skill buffing titan health and damage by 30%, as well as providing 3 Freeze spells.
  • One Tier II titan defensive skill, one Tier II titan offensive and Tier III titan offensive skill.
  • One Aura X titan skill providing the following buffs: 117% titan health, 180% titan ice damage, 88% titan armor piercing, or 88% titan armor.
  • Krampus is the first “Titan Aura X” champion, but the implementation of his Aura X skill leaves something to be desired. Defensively, other than the small 30% boost to health from his first skill, Krampus only has one other guaranteed defensive skill. Champions are already short-handed when it comes to having enough defensive buffs, and Krampus, even in his best case scenario, only brings to the table a single 72% resistance skill, and either +147% health or +30% health and +88% armor, neither of which gives him a hope of surviving against an army of well-buffed Aura X troops when defending.
  • Offensively, a skilled player can make use of Krampus‘ Freeze spells to delay the enemy army (though even 3 extra Freeze spells are not enough to save Krampus from many compositions). A Krampus with an Aura X titan damage buff (+180% damage) can put out an infiltrator’s level of damage while sporting a bit of the champion’s tankiness, but survivability remains a troublesome issue. Krampus is therefore considered a low Tier B titan.

race_human  class_champion Lu Bu | Human Champion

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
B D A- B

Champion_Lubu

  • Lu Bu is a decent champion, as far as classic champions go. He offers a unique first skill that provides him with 40% health and armor, as well as 3 lightning spells.
  • He gets one Tier II defensive skill, one Tier II offensive skill, one Tier III defensive skill and one Aura X skill.
  • Pros
    • With three, possibly four, defensive skills, Lu Bu can turn out to be a lot tankier than a regular champion, at least in terms of health and armor. However, he has access to only one elemental resistance skill, making him more of a niche choice against certain compositions.
  • Cons
    • The Tier II defensive skill can be low-rolled to result in health, armor or resist vs. titan, which is painfully redundant given how much health and armor he already has in his skill set (first skill, Tier III, Aura X).
    • The Aura X can be low-rolled to grant armor piercing. If Lu Bu does not roll Aura X damage, he will do far less damage than a classic champion otherwise would. No lightning-damage equivalent to the titan-buffing Avalanche, Giant Axe, Great Plague, Mountain Fist or Volcano Vane exists.

race_elithen  class_paladin   Matarus | Elithen Paladin

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
B- C- B- B

Elithen_paladin_SR01

  • Matarus suffers from a base armor of 25%, making him slightly weaker than classic paladins, which have a base armor of 40%.
  • Paladins in Dawn of Titans have a difficult time rolling a good skill set, and require a lot of powerful relics to make work.
  • Matarus has an advantage over the standard paladin (ranked at Tier C) due to the dual-resistance ability offered as the 2nd skill. In this case, being able to roll poison + another elemental resistance in a single skill makes Matarus have slightly more consistent skills than other paladins. Even with this consideration, Matarus‘ single Imperial X skill is not enough to make him a viable troop-buffing titan, and his other skills still require a great deal of luck to roll four different elements.
  • With a lucky roll though and proper itemization (i.e. Storm Rune), Matarus can excel as a defensive paladin, with 90% resistance to every element and a great deal of health/armor.

race_mossmane  class_guardian  Mayku | Mossmane Guardian

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support
B B- S A-

Mossmane_guardian_R01

  • The only reason Mayku is classified as Tier B is due to the consistency of her skill rolls. She always receives both Spearmen defensive X skills and both Panther defensive X skills, so you know exactly what you are going to get.
  • In terms of unit composition though, Spearmen and Panthers do not go well together. Both units suffer from crowding effects: only one or two Spearmen camps, or two or three Panthers can deal damage at a time – the rest just stand around waiting their turn. The health and armor boosts are fine against unbuffed troops, but will never stand up to end-game defense or castle raiding. 150% bonus health and 102% armor don’t do much when buffed troops can get 100%+ armor piercing and 100-200% damage buffs.

race_ragnar  class_guardian  Skolnar | Ragnar Guardian

Power Level Troop Composition Skill Consistency Relic Support

ragnar_guard_SR01

  • Goliaths are not viable in the current meta due to the prevalence of rangers and storm maidens, cumbersome handling and lack of defenses. Skolnar can help even the odds a bit with his skills, but at the end of the day, there are only a few skill sets that truly shine:
    • 100% Resistance vs. Titan: Achievable only 2.78% of the time by getting the Tier II and Tier III Resist vs. Titan skills in the 3rd and 5th slots.
    • 100% Resistance vs. Melee: Achievable only 0.2% of the time by getting the Tier I, II and III Resist vs. Melee skills in the 1st, 3rd and 5th slots.
    • Spectrum Elemental Resists: Hard to get a good spread of resistances, and requires a lot of relic support. This composition can still get kited due to Goliath’s slow movement speed – something that does not affect Mitano‘s panthers.

unak_paladin_SR01.png

  • Abazut is a classic 4* paladin. Ever since Patch 1.22, paladins can only roll elemental resistances in the first four skills – the last skill is always health or armor. You need to be incredibly lucky to roll the four separate resistances you need to make the 90% resist-all titan.
  • However, I want to note that a perfect classic paladin like Abazut is actually a better paladin than a perfect Matarus/Delphira — the Tier C ranking is due to how hard this skill set is to obtain.

  • Pigsy isn’t very good. He comes with a unique first skill that gives him 30% critical and 3 rage spells.
  • He comes with one Tier II offensive, one Tier II defensive, one Tier III offensive and one Aura X skill.
  • Pros
    • He has a lot of damage. With a critical rate of 35% after his first skill and two, possibly three, additional offensive skills on top of that, he has a high chance of hitting an easy 100% critical rate.
    • Three free Rage spells are a consolation.
  • Cons
    • Pigsy has a high chance of low-rolling his skills. The Tier II, Tier III and Aura X offensives could land on armor piercing. The Tier II defensive could land on armor, health or resist vs. titans.
    • A single guaranteed Tier II defensive skill is not enough protection for a slow-moving champion titan. Given how much damage exists in this meta, Pigsy will get shredded before he can dish out too much of his own damage. There are better options that exist for land grinding.

race_unak  class_guardian  Kalkur | Unak Guardian

Unak_guard_SR01

  • Attempting to apply defensive buffs to a unit with a tiny health pool is always a fool’s errand. Kalkur will almost never be viable – even if you apply a full 70% damage reduction from armor and a full 90% reduction from all elements (a very difficult thing to achieve), you still are dealing with a unit that has a base HP pool of 21,000 at L25.

  • If you build Kalkur with defensive Grenadier relics, you will be left with essentially unbuffed Grenadiers that can tank a few hits at best. If you build Kalkur offensively, your defensive buffs will not have enough support to make a noticeable difference. Pick your poison.
    • NOTE: There is a mythical, magical Kalkur out there – one in every 360 Kalkurs (0.2% chance). This Kalkur has the Tier I, II and III Foresight Aura skills (Resistance vs. Ranged, unique to Unak guardians), and gives your Grenadiers complete immunity to all ranged damage – vs. Archers, other Grenadiers, Storm Maidens and Rangers – even without any relics. You can then stack a bunch of Grenadier Damage relics on your Kalkur and watch as the world burns around you. Only the most fire-resistant of melee troops can defeat a composition like this. So make sure you always check your Kalkur before you fuse him into another titan.

CAPTAIN_HEROVERE

  • Volstan would have been okay, if only he was able to focus all of his troop buffs onto one human troop type. As he currently exists, he buffs three different troops, which results in a messy hodge-podge of partially-applied defensive buffs. Even if you were lucky enough to roll Tier II and Tier III Resist vs. Titan, one could be applied to Militia and the other to Archers. This makes rolling a Volstan almost always a crap-shoot.
  • Militia and Spearmen also have weaker relative stats than other troops in the game that perform the same roles, because they are so cost-efficient. And since he cannot buff damage, any defensive buffs he applies to Archers are useless.
